MARCH FORTH!
The Promises of Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
The principle for the week is #4: Intelligence
I love the 23rd Psalm because it is a reminder that helps me move forward in my life. Whether I am faced with the difficulties of the day, or a decision, or a risk, my spiritual beliefs can get me through. If I "buy" the promises of the 23rd Psalm, I have a powerful vehicle for moving along and succeeding.
Metaphysically, the words provide us with a powerhouse of support. "The Lord (Law) is my shepherd (my failsafe); I shall not want (be alone or powerless)." To lie down in "green pastures" is to relax through the process. Water always represents our consciousness, so "still waters" suggests that I will remain calm, cool and collected. "Restores my soul" means we will be guided back to our purpose when our minds stray; and the "paths of righteousness" refer to staying in integrity. His "name" or "nature" is Love, so "His name's sake" implies that our task at hand is for the good of everyone and everything.
I'll be taking you through the rest of it on Sunday. {{:-}
