...an independent New Thought worship center, located in Portland, Oregon, and founded in September 1992 by the Revs. Berdell and Casey Moffett-Chaney, who still serve as its ministers.

What Is New Thought?
New Thought—not to be confused with New Age—began in the mid-1800’s as a philosophy for healing, by means of positive, constructive thinking. The term itself, “New Thought,” literally defines the philosophy—think differently about a situation and you will have a different experience. Portland Center expands that definition to include words and actions. Think new thoughts, speak new words, act new ways. “Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:14-26)New Thought is the philosophy behind Unity Church, Religious Science (Science of Mind)*, Divine Science, and other independent worship centers like ours, as well as the 12-Step Recovery movement. It is also practiced within many traditional Christian denominations, as well as non-Christian-based religions including Judaism and Buddhism. New Thought could be considered a grandchild of Christian Science and a 1st cousin to Unitarian Universalist.
